OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/24/12 -- As part of Canada's Financial Literacy Month starting November 1, the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) today is launching a video challenge on its YouTube channel. With the theme: "How I am saving for...," the contest challenges all Canadian youth aged between 13 and 19 (as of November 30, 2012) to submit a one- to three-minute long video showing and explaining how they are saving toward or managing their money to achieve a financial goal. Videos must also end with the line "Financial Understanding. It Just Adds Up."
Videos of all eligible participants will be evaluated for messaging, creativity, and production quality by a panel of three judges selected by FCAC. The jury's top three videos will be awarded the following prizes:
-- 1st place: a 13" MacBook Pro -- 2nd place: a 16-GB iPad with Wi-Fi and a $50 iTunes gift card -- 3rd place: an 8-GB iPod Touch.
Up to eight finalists will be announced at the opening of Financial Literacy Month on November 1. In addition to the above prizes, a special "People's Choice" award of a $50 iTunes gift card will be given to the video that gets the most "likes" on YouTube by November 25. All winners will be announced by November 30 on FCAC's website.
Videos must be submitted by October 28 in English or French through the FTP site https://transfer.fcac-acfc.gc.ca, using the username "flm-mfl" and password "Pass12!@". They must be in MPeg4 format, in either standard or high definition. We will also accept mail submissions by CD, DVD or USB key. Only videos that are deemed to meet the rules and regulations as well as the entrant eligibility requirements of this contest will be uploaded to FCAC's YouTube channel.
To be considered eligible, all participants under the age of majority in their respective province or territory must obtain consent from their parent or legal guardian. Each person who appears in the video must also submit a signed consent form available on the Financial Literacy Month Web page.
