Brazil's Minister of Agriculture discusses paths of Agribusiness at event held by LIDE

Mendes Ribeiro attends opening of 1st National Agribusiness Forum and receives signed statement by leaders of sector

CAMPINAS, Brazil, Sept. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The establishment of sustainable agribusiness is essential to Brazil's economic, social and environmental development. This position was upheld by the principal leaders of the national agricultural sector at the 1st National Agribusiness Forum (Forum Nacional de Agronegocios), an event held by the Group of Business Leaders, LIDE (Grupo de Lideres Empresariais), in Campinas.

Alongside of former Agriculture ministers, Roberto Rodrigues and Alysson Paolinelli, as well as Joao Doria Jr., President of LIDE, Minister Mendes Ribeiro enthusiastically received the so-called Carta de Campinas ('Campinas Letter'), which focuses on presenting strategies for the balanced development of Brazilian agribusiness. Praising the initiative of the Forum, Ribeiro commented, "it is an honor to receive the Campinas Letter, knowing that it is not only a letter, but also a challenge to every one of us."

The 1st National Agribusiness Forum brought together the principal leaders and specialists in the segment to discuss New Paths for Sustainable Agribusiness in Brazil. The gathering occurred on September 21 to 22, 2012, at the Royal Palm Plaza Resort Hotel in Campinas, Sao Paulo. It was organized by LIDE - Grupo de Lideres Empresariais, presided over by Joao Doria Jr., and by LIDE Agronegocios, led by Roberto Rodrigues, former Minister of Agriculture and Coordinator of the Center for Agribusiness at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (Centro de Agronegocios da Fundacao Getulio Vargas).
