Ugly Christmas Sweater Company Unveils New 2012 Collection, Partnership

Tipsy Elves Unwraps Latest Line of Tacky Christmas Sweaters, Joins Up with Global Charity

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- This Christmas, Santa may be in for a shock as Tipsy Elves debuts the latest additions to its catalog of ugly Christmas sweaters. The tradition-twisting clothing line is proud to unveil its newest designs -- which include the Yellow Snow Sweater, the Candy Cane Vest and the Reindeer Double Date Cardigan -- as well as its upcoming partnership with Kids in Distressed Situations (KIDS) to help clothe underprivileged youth. The new release includes products and accessories like the Elf Dog Sweater, the Elf Youth Sweater and the Humping Reindeer Beanies and Scarves. All Tipsy Elves designs are exclusively sold through the Tipsy Elves website, www.tipsyelves.com, and from authorized retailers.

While receiving ugly sweaters was once a painful Christmas reality, the recent trend of throwing ugly-sweater holiday parties has transformed these once-unwanted gifts into opportunities for good-natured laughter. Unwrapping a tacky Christmas sweater is now more akin to unwrapping an invitation to a hip, ironic get-together where the ugliest sweater gets the most attention and sparks the most conversation. The irreverent and humorous designs created by Tipsy Elves – conveniently divided into "Naughty" and "Nice" categories – feed into this trend and help make Christmas gift-giving a little more daring.

This holiday season, Tipsy Elves will also team up with the global nonprofit organization Kids in Distressed Situations (KIDS) to bring warm sweaters to children living in poverty as a result of homelessness, domestic abuse, major illness, military deployment of a parent or natural disaster. For each "Like" the company gets on its Facebook fanpage from October 1 through Christmas Day, Tipsy Elves will donate one dollar of merchandise to KIDS.  If Tipsy Elves reaches its goal of 50,000 "Likes," the company will also donate an extra $10,000 worth of merchandise.

ABOUT TIPSY ELVES

Tipsy Elves was founded by college friends Evan Mendelsohn and Nick Morton when they noticed gaps in the ugly Christmas sweater market. Determined to make tacky Christmas sweaters available for men, women and children of all sizes and tastes, they launched the first line in 2011 and immediately received an enormous response. Operating under the tagline "Not your momma's Christmas sweater," Tipsy Elves strives to be anything but the typical Christmas sweater store. Tipsy Elves sweaters and accessories are designed from the bottom up to shock, surprise and get a laugh. The current catalog includes over a dozen exclusive designs that include a bucktoothed reindeer, a decapitated snowman and a pair of dancing dreidels hoisting a menorah (called the "Hanukkah Sweater").

Tipsy Elves is also committed to charitable giving. Each Tipsy Elves purchase funds the company's "Sweaters 4 Sweaters" campaign, which donates appropriate winter sweaters -- no sexually aroused snowmen or mating reindeer -- to needy American children. The company has been featured on the Today Show and ABC's Wipeout as well as in People Magazine, InTouch Weekly and other publications.
