CrowdFlower, the leader in enterprise crowdsourcing, announced Slava Rubin as the keynote for CrowdConf2012, the world’s leading crowdsourcing conference, to be held on October 23, 2012 in San Francisco. Rubin is CEO and Co-founder of Indiegogo the world’s largest crowdfunding platform. Rubin has spoken at many notable events including Skoll World Forum, TedX, SXSW, CMJ & Internet Week NY and has been featured in the press by The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Good Morning America, Oprah, BBC, and CNNMoney.
In anticipation of his keynote at CrowdConf 2012 Rubin says, “I’m looking forward to sharing the insights that Indiegogo has been compiling and analyzing for years -- data that reveals the potential of the crowd, and how we’re empowering anyone, anytime, anywhere to raise funds for any idea. Startup, big brand, entrepreneur, or hot dog stand -- the crowd will continue to have a growing role as businesses look to engage the audience to gain a competitive advantage.”
While there may not be a hot dog stand at this year’s CrowdConf, big brands like Twitter, Google, and eBay will join aspiring entrepreneurs to better understand how the crowd can help grow their business. More than just business owners are paying attention to CrowdConf, as the investment community steps forward as another key participant. CrowdFlower has been working closely with investment bank Jefferies & Company, Inc. on the program planning, specifically on the “Ideas to Exit” track, which targets SMB’s and entrepreneurs.
“We see great value in what CrowdConf has to offer entrepreneurs trying to get their business started. Crowdsourcing can offer a myriad of solutions from coming up with the idea and capital to marketing all the way to an exit strategy. With access to an online workforce, starting your own company becomes much more realistic with limited resources and look forward to reaching a number of aspiring entrepreneurs at the conference,” says David Liu, Managing Director and Head of Digital Media and Internet Investment Banking at Jefferies & Company, Inc.
In addition to the main conference program, CrowdConf is partnering with Ross Dawson, author of Getting Results from Crowds, to host a half-day summit the day prior. Dawson will share the latest research and insights on the evolution of crowd business models to help participants develop or refine their own crowd business models. Guest speakers include Philip Rosedale, Founder of Coffee & Power, Paul Plushkell, CEO of Spigit, and Tiffany Shlain, Founder, Webby Awards and Film Director. “As crowdsourcing moves to center stage in the global economy, it is exciting to see CrowdConf build on its success as a forum for the industry to develop and grow,” notes Dawson in response to the growing momentum behind the conference and summit.
To date, CrowdConf has confirmed a number of notable speakers, sponsors and partners from companies including Google, Twitter, eBay, Amazon Mechanical Turk, Crowdsource.com, Lionbridge, PopTent and Crowdsourcing.org.
