MINNEAPOLIS, June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Percipia Inc. has been selected by Mandarin Oriental Hotels to deploy VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) in its flagship hotel in Hong Kong. The legendary luxury hotel, which is undergoing a comprehensive USD140 million renovation, will re-open its doors this autumn featuring the latest guest room technology. Percipia will deliver advanced hospitality applications to Cisco color touch tone phones over the hotel's network which converges data, voice and video.
Guests in the hotel's 500 rooms will enjoy the highest quality phone equipment in the world for conference calling and more. Sophisticated phone applications provided by Percipia include access to local and home weather, stock quotes, and the ability for guests to view the list of members of their group at the hotel, then directly dial them. Guest room phones will display local dining options, a directory of Hong Kong consulates, currency rates, airport schedules, and more, all at the touch of the guest's fingertips.
Currently, Mandarin Oriental hotels in New York and Washington D.C. use Percipia's technology for their phone system. Percipia recently deployed Internet telephony for the headquarters offices in Hong Kong as well.
Nick Price, CIO/CTO of Mandarin Oriental Hotels, chose Internet telephony because, in so far as possible, it is future-proof, which means he can upgrade hotel telephone services for guests without unacceptable disruption and costly re-cabling. "We chose Percipia," he said, "because what I'm looking for is innovation. We know that the telephony environment is changing, and that needs of our guests are changing. Mandarin Oriental wants to work with a company that is willing to innovate, to work with us, to bring us ideas."
"Percipia is honored to launch its Asia-Pacific expansion with one of the world's most advanced hotels as our first Hong Kong customer", said Chris Farrar, Ph.D., president of Percipia. "Working with Mandarin Oriental helps propel our product to the forefront of hospitality technology."
Percipia, based in Columbus, Ohio, is an expert in telephony systems and solutions, satisfying over 450 customers worldwide. In business since 1992, Percipia has won recognition both as a Cisco partner and for entrepreneurship. Percipia has deployed its hospitality applications software with Cisco IP phones in nearly 10,000 hotel rooms globally.
