Bluepoint Solutions today announced that Mountain America Credit Union (MACU) has processed more than 100,000 mobile transactions, resulting in nearly $36.5 million in deposits, since launching the QwikDeposit ToGo mobile remote deposit capture (RDC) application in 2011.
Details are published in a case study examining the results of QwikDeposit ToGo’s adoption and usage one year after launching the service at MACU.
West Jordan, Utah-based MACU, with $3.2 billion in assets, serves more than 355,000 members through 69 locations in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico. Officially launched in July 2011, MACU was one of the first community financial institutions to implement mobile deposit. Since its launch, MACU’s mobile RDC adoption has grown rapidly and helped the credit union significantly increase wallet share among its younger members.
“The dual benefits of building banking relationships with a younger demographic as well as increasing the credit union’s wallet share with these members makes the service particularly valuable to MACU,” said Tony Rasmussen, SVP of eServices, Mountain America Credit Union. “We also see a higher ratio of mobile banking, mobile deposit, and internet banking users signing up for credit cards and other types of loans than those members who aren’t using these services.”
Andrew Tilbury, chief marketing officer of Bluepoint Solutions said, “We’re impressed with the success of QwikDeposit ToGo at MACU. With nearly half of mobile phones expected to be smartphones by 2013, mobile deposit will continue to grow in popularity among consumers. Mountain America has proven it is on the leading edge of new consumer technology by establishing itself early on as a leader in this critical self-service banking channel.”
