CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/01/12 -- The Calgary Food Bank has introduced a new "food-raising" initiative - the Domino Effect. The idea is simple. Collect food items from the Food Bank's most-needed list; take a look at what you have; work together to create a domino course with the items; and finally ... knock it all over! Be sure you capture it all on video and share it on our Facebook page. Then gather up the food you used and donate it to the Food Bank.
Not really sure about this? We want to show you how it's done!
NOTE: REVISED DATE FOR MEDIA OPPORTUNITY
On Monday, October 15, Chinook Centre and the Calgary Food Bank are building a Domino Effect domino course in Chinook's Centre Court. Representatives will be available for interviews and photo ops from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Domino players will start building early that morning; the "topple" will begin at 10:30 a.m. Best seats in the house will be from the floor above Centre Court - grab your place at the railing!
Using a $1,500 donation made by Chinook Centre, food will be purchased as building blocks for Monday's Domino Effect, then donated to the Food Bank.
A great example of Domino Effect fun and ingenuity can be found on the Food Bank's website. Calgary production company, Joe Media, hosted a Domino Effect morning in their offices. Employees donated hundreds of food items, then had a great time building and then toppling a domino line. Check out the video, created with the help of Solid Green, a Calgary visual effects company: http://ow.ly/dTxqN.
With your help, we can help topple hunger!
About Domino Effect. Participants are encouraged to be creative with the location, scale and configuration of their domino setup, incorporating multiple tracks and uphill climbs. Videos of the events can be posted on YouTube, company websites, and the Food Bank's Facebook page. Interested organizations can download a poster from the Food Bank's website. The Domino Effect concept was created by Calgary Food Bank volunteer Steve Williams - a former creative director at a number of Calgary advertising agencies. The Domino Effect logo was designed by Kerry Gibson, a graphic designer at Calgary advertising agency PollockParke.
