Mindspeed to Showcase ‘Connected Home’ Applications for Service Providers and OEMs at 2012 Broadband World Forum

Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MSPD), a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure applications, today announced that the company will be demonstrating leading-edge solutions for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure and services in Meeting Room 8 (MR8) at the Broadband World Forum in Amsterdam, from October 16-18, 2012.

Featured demonstrations will include application- and content-aware broadband home gateway solutions with carrier-grade quality of service (QoS) and DPI capabilities powered by the company's recently announced Comcerto® 2000 communications processor.

“We have a growing ecosystem of technology partners that are supporting our Comcerto processor family, and we are pleased to showcase the latest 'connected life' services that highlight advanced capabilities, such as deep packet inspection for content-aware applications, and a new generation of software-defined networking solutions,” said Marco E. Bello, executive director of marketing and product management with the communications convergence processing (CCP) business unit at Mindspeed. “Our latest ARM® Cortex™ A9-powered solution is ideal for running OSGI bundles, which enable a new class of broadband subscriber services including home automation, security, energy management and e-healthcare.”

Mindspeed will be hosting private meetings and demonstrations for service providers, customers, press and analysts throughout Broadband World Forum in Meeting Room 8 (MR8) on the show floor. The company's Comcerto communications processor has been honored as one of the finalists for a 'Best Broadband Enabler' award at the Broadband InfoVision Awards, which will be held on October 17, 2012 during the conference.

Mindspeed’s Comcerto 2000 family enables a new class of cost-effective products that support new protocols and higher speeds with lower power consumption. The processors are designed for a wide variety of applications, including switching, routing, security, multi-service gateways, enterprise-class wireless access points and controllers, network attached storage (NAS) and Voice-over-IP (VoIP) for residential, enterprise and networking equipment used by small and medium businesses. As the first communications processors to support deep packet inspection (DPI), the Comcerto 2000 family also is designed to bring software defined networking (SDN) to the edge of the network through an API, helping to reduce the cost of delivering complex personalized consumer services and other applications in today’s ultra-connected society.

Representatives from Mindspeed’s high-performance analog (HPA) business unit will also be on hand to show its family of highly integrated laser drivers that enable optical transceiver and optical network terminal (ONT) vendors to significantly reduce their overall system costs. The devices can be implemented in traditional module formats or with a bi-directional optical sub-assembly (BOSA) that can be mounted directly onto the ONT board to reduce bill-of-material (BOM) costs.
