Once again, Diageo's Johnnie Walker triumphs as number one brand
Johnnie Walker, Diageo's scotch whiskey brand came top of the rankings out 124 spirits brands and was also rated the highest in the just-drinks readership survey in terms of 'Brand Strength'. Two out of 21 of Diageo's brands landed in the top 10, with Johnnie Walker scoring 341 points, followed closely by LVMH's Hennessy Cognac with 339 points. Pernod Ricard's Chivas Regal ranked third place and four out of its 18 brands made it into the top 10.
Scotch Whiskey category dominates the ranks
The brand owners and spirits categories performance is ranked over the past 12 months, with Scotch Whiskey having the largest category on the performance brands list with a total of 33 brands. The report recognises that one of the real strengths of Scotch is its international scope. The vodka category came in as the second largest with 21 brands followed by, twelve rums, ten non-Scotch whiskies, seven Tequila brands and six gins all featured in the ranking.
The report reveals and reviews, in depth, the top ten overall spirits brands in order, includes quantitative data, qualitative survey data, focuses on the past 12 months' performance of the brand owners and spirits categories and concludes with the complete ranking table listings of all 123 brands.
