COSTA MESA, Calif., Oct. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced that Mark Jones, director of technical marketing at Emulex, has been named President of the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA), a non-profit international organization of manufacturers, systems integrators and vendors. In this position, Jones will help the FCIA broaden the market for Fibre Channel products by aiding with market development, education, standards monitoring and fostering interoperability among member products. Prior to this role, Jones served as vice chairman of the FCIA. The FCIA announced its newly elected Board of Directors for 2012/2013 today.
Fibre Channel technology is the data center standard for storage area networks (SANs) and enterprise storage. The FCIA consists of 50 Fibre Channel industry leaders globally, who continue to provide thought leadership, education and guidance to the growing storage networking market. Emulex has a Fibre Channel heritage that spans back to the first generation of Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) to today's 16G Fibre Channel (16GFC) HBAs and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) Converged Network Adapters (CNAs), built for the most demanding enterprises.
