Arbitrator Decision Concludes Collective Agreement Between Jazz Aviation LP and CAW Canada

OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/18/12 -- On October 14, 2012, Arbitrator Tom Hodges, Arbitrator, rendered his decision on outstanding issues between Jazz Aviation LP and the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) Local 2002 Jazz Technical Services, thereby ending the dispute.

"I commend both parties in agreeing to send outstanding issues to voluntary arbitration," said Minister Raitt. "Strong labour-management relations are crucial when facing the current and emerging economic challenges."

CAW Local 2002 Jazz Technical Services represents a unit of approximately 950 technical services employees. The new collective agreement is valid until September 30, 2015, and replaces the previous agreement, which expired in June 2012.

"I am glad that the dispute between Jazz Aviation and the CAW has reached a conclusion without interruption to services," added Minister Raitt.

The parties reached an agreement through a mediation process and agreed to send unresolved issues to arbitration in September.
