Enterprise E-Signatures – More Than Just Capturing a Signature

Industry experts, analysts and customers recently gathered to discuss the expanding capabilities e-signatures.

At Silanis' annual user conference, industry experts, analysts and customers gathered to discuss the expanding capabilities of the foundational technology that is e-signatures. What came out of it may surprise you if you'd thought e-signature software was just about capturing an electronic signature:

E-Signature Word Cloud

This word cloud illustrates the type of functionality, performance and scalability an enterprise e-signature platform can bring to an organization. To truly be considered enterprise-level, the e-signature solution has to:

  1. Correctly execute e-signed documents (present documents, capture data, support multiple signing methods and securely deliver and execute complex workflows);
  2. Manage, monitor and track all the documents, people and systems involved in electronic transactions (manage and give added control and  visibility into transactions, integrate with different devices, services and other business systems);
  3. Create and store reliable electronic evidence and audit trails required to defend the e-transaction (document evidence as part of the audit trail includes digital signature, digital certificate, signature block image, as well as time stamp and process evidence such as the web pages viewed and signed by each user).

Three other important capabilities that make an enterprise e-signature solution about more than just capturing a signature are its re-usability, its agility and its adoption. A solution that scales across an organization’s various lines of business and internal processes creates added value for the company because of the agility it brings and the likelihood of its adoption amongst customers and staff. And when implemented as a shared service, enables an organization to bring on other business processes quickly and efficiently.
