Ads Feature a "Common Sense" Message
TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Oct. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- To strengthen parents' natural rights regarding their children's health and protect public funds from being used for abortion, Citizens for Protecting Taxpayers and Parental Rights (CPTPR) announced today its ad campaign for "YES on 6".
The radio spot reads: "It's just common sense that Florida taxpayers shouldn't be forced to pay the bill for anyone's voluntary abortion. So, Amendment 6 prohibits taxpayer funding of abortions, a position on which 72% of the public already says 'Yes!' And Amendment 6 allows for legislation to restore a parent's right to be involved in their school-aged daughter's decision on abortion. Let's protect taxpayers and parent's rights. Say YES on Amendment 6."
The video commercial features a man and a woman in their early forties repurposing a room in their home as a baby's room, leading viewers to assume they are having an unexpected child after having long put away all their baby-related furniture and clothing.
The voiceover says: "The most amazing thing about a parent's love is how it expands in unexpected ways." A teenage girl then enters the scene holding a baby, with the mother embracing her as the spot closes with the words: "Amendment 6 will allow for new legislation to restore a parent's right to be involved in their daughter's decision on abortion…so parents can naturally do what's best for their family, even when the best isn't always easy. Please…Say Yes on 6."
CPTPR believes that Florida's "right of privacy" clause has been interpreted by the courts as creating broader rights to an abortion than those rights currently contained in the United States Constitution, and that Amendment 6 opens the door to pass future legislation requiring parental consent for minors seeking an abortion.
