For the first time in 10 years, a national builder wins at the Reggies

EDINA, MN, Nov. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ - Mattamy Homes became the first national home builder to impress the strict judges at the Builders Association of the Twin Cities' (BATC) prestigious annual Reggie Awards in more than a decade. While the area's local custom builders have dominated the Reggie Awards in the past, this year a Mattamy entry from the company's Jeffers Waterfront community in Prior Lake, MN, was judged to be the top home for design, construction quality and value in its price category.

The BATC created the Reggie Awards in 1968 to recognize achievements by member Minnesota home builders. Over its history, the Reggies have seen Minnesota's 500 custom builders mostly enter and win these awards. This year they have been challenged by Mattamy - a large national builder - who entered the esteemed award program as a signal of the company's continued commitment to excellence. "Winning this award is a confirmation of the dedicated efforts of all our people to continually focus on providing our customers with a home they would be proud to show off to their friends and family," says Steve Logan, Mattamy's Division President in Minnesota.

The homes are judged by experienced industry professionals. All of the homes judged were on display to the public during the Parade of Homes Fall Showcase, and the participating builders entered their best new Parade Homes in the Reggie Award competition.

Mattamy won for its Jeffers Waterfront townhomes at Prior Lake, in the $180,000 - $219,999 price range. The Reggie Award judges look at 11 different aspects of the home's design and construction quality (from roofing and siding to cabinets and ceilings), as well as rating the home's value, across 15 price categories. A total of 104 homes from 55 building firms were entered in the competition this year.
