OAKLAND, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/02/12 -- More than 60 winners of the 2012 Stars of PR Awards for Outstanding Achievement by Communications Agencies and Professionals has were summarized today in the Stars of PR Hall of Fame magazine.
Winners were chosen exclusively by working journalists from hundreds of entries representing the very best strategic and tactical prowess that PR/corporate communications has to offer. Campaigns were judged by a team of working journalists, who assessed them on the basis of their ability to achieve extraordinary visibility and influence opinion, as well as on their creativity, command of media and technology, and tenacity.
This year's Grand Prize: Communications Agency of the Year was awarded to Waggener Edstrom Worldwide, which also won Gold Stars of PR awards as Technology Agency of the Year, Global Agency of the year and Digital Agency of the Year. Judges were impressed not only with the agency's achievements in the individual categories in which it won, but also with the firm's commitment to corporate responsibility, the results of which it measures and publicly reports.
This year's Grand Prize: Communications Professional of the Year was awarded to Carreen Winters, EVP of Corporate Communications at MWW, who also won Gold Stars of PR awards as Corporate Communications Professional of the Year and Crisis Management Professional of the Year. In addition, judges especially noted Winters' use of digital strategies, including dark websites, blog strategies and technology-based plan maintenance to help companies manage and mitigate crises along with her other innovative training techniques, such as real-world simulation exercises and ambush media training. Winters' firm, MWW, also won this year's Silver award for Crisis Agency of the Year.
