Centre Hospitalier Côte de Lumière Implements Wi-Fi RFID Staff Safety Application from Stanley Healthcare Solutions

Stanley Healthcare Solutions today announced that its AeroScout® Staff Safety solution has been successfully implemented in the Emergency Department of the Centre Hospitalier Côte de Lumière in Sables d’Olonne, France. The solution is based on the AeroScout Real-Time Location System (RTLS) and leverages standard Wi-Fi networks to enable faster deployment, simpler maintenance and lower total cost of ownership. Centre Hospitalier uses the solution to reduce response times in the event of a staff member encountering an emergency situation.

“We’re committed to providing a safe environment for our staff and patients,” said Jacques Jadaud, CIO at the Centre Hospitalier Côte de Lumière. “The AeroScout Staff Safety solution gives clinicians peace of mind that help is always just a press of a button away, should they need it. We’ve seen great results so far in terms of reducing response times for potentially urgent situations.”

The Centre Hospitalier Côte de Lumière is a 498-bed hospital, with 212 beds for short stays, 240 beds allocated for long-term care of the elderly and 46 beds for adults with disabilities. The hospital is focused on continual improvement and enhancement to the care it provides.

Centre Hospitalier deployed the AeroScout Staff Safety solution in its Emergency Department. The solution, implemented by Stanley Healthcare’s partner BE-IP, consists of AeroScout Wi-Fi Tags with call buttons and AeroScout MobileView software. Nurses and physicians wear the tags and simply press a call button if a situation arises where help is needed. The solution alerts the security team and also provides the real-time location of the staff member in duress so that the team can arrive as quickly as possible.

“Hospitals are dynamic, stressful environments, and enhancing safety is always a key goal,” said Eric Devineau, Vice President of European Sales at Stanley Healthcare Solutions. “We’re proud to partner with the Centre Hospitalier Côte de Lumière to support its efforts to reduce response times for potential urgent situations and to provide a safe environment for its staff and patients.”

Stanley Healthcare Solutions acquired AeroScout in June 2012 to help transform safety, security and operational efficiency for its customers. AeroScout has more than 500 healthcare customers worldwide, with market-leading visibility solutions that include Asset Management, Temperature Monitoring, Patient & Staff Safety, Infection Control and Workflow & Resource Management.

Due of the rise of Hadoop, many enterprises are now deploying their first small clusters of 10 to 20 servers. At this small scale, the complexity of operating the cluster looks and feels like general data center servers. It is not until the clusters scale, as they inevitably do, when the pain caused by the exponential complexity becomes apparent. We've seen this problem occur time and time again. Once the decision has been made to move part or all of a workload to the cloud, a methodology for selecting that workload needs to be established. How do you move to the cloud? What does the discovery, assessment and planning look like? What workloads make sense? Which cloud model makes sense for each workload? What are the considerations for how to select the right cloud model? And how does that fit in with the overall IT transformation?
You use an agile process; your goal is to make your organization more agile. But what about your data infrastructure? The truth is, today's databases are anything but agile - they are effectively static repositories that are cumbersome to work with, difficult to change, and cannot keep pace with application demands. Performance suffers as a result, and it takes far longer than it should to deliver new features and capabilities needed to make your organization competitive. As your application an...
