Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Circuit City to Offer Mitsubishi HDTVs
Circuit City to Offer Mitsubishi HDTVs

By: PR Newswire
Jul. 18, 2006 12:45 PM

RICHMOND, Va., July 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Circuit City Stores, Inc., a leading specialty retailer of consumer electronics, today announced select products from Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, Inc., a leader in high- definition television, will be available at http://www.circuitcity.com/ and in Circuit City stores nationwide starting in early August 2006.

Since the introduction of HDTV in 1998, the retail landscape has evolved to serve a broader consumer audience interested in large-screen and flat panel HDTV products. By virtue of its significant retail market share in HDTV, Circuit City will provide Mitsubishi access to a large, previously untapped segment of the HDTV marketplace.

"Mitsubishi is pleased to announce our new relationship with Circuit City, a leading HDTV retailer, long recognized for its strength in educating consumers," said Max Wasinger, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America. "We share with Circuit City the same high level of dedication to expert sales training, enabling their associates to fully explain the top-end picture performance advantages of the Mitsubishi 1080p large-screen HDTVs."

Both companies are focused on 1080p HDTV, the maximum high-definition display resolution, which is perfectly matched to the latest HD sources, including Blu-ray and HD video games. Mitsubishi plans to offer selective 1080p Digital Light Processing (DLP(R)) from Texas Instruments and liquid crystal display (LCD) HDTVs to meet the needs of any Circuit City customer.

"We are excited to offer Mitsubishi's quality, high-performance products to our customers, enabling them to experience the picture performance and high style design of Mitsubishi 1080p large-screen and 1080p flat panel HDTVs," said Doug Moore, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at Circuit City. "The addition of these products plays a role in our innovative home entertainment enhancements, which we plan to rollout in 500-plus stores by the end of this year."
