HONOLULU, Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Hawaiian Legacy Hardwoods (HLH), is pleased to announce John R. Henshaw as Senior Staff Forester for the company's forest programs. Henshaw brings more than three decades of expertise in forestry, conservation, forest fire management and forest engineering. Henshaw's role with Hawaiian Legacy Hardwoods is to advise HLH on their operations and to design and implement long term growth and yield studies for their plantations.
Henshaw has amassed his wealth of knowledge in forestry through working in research and operations with the US Forest Service, and with non-profit conservation organizations. He is an expert in land conservation and forestland management. He has also served on the Board of Directors for several non-profit and for-profit organizations including The Hawaiian Islands Land Trust, The Wildland Firefighter Foundation, Agricultural Leadership Foundation of Hawaii and The Napa County Land Trust. Henshaw's prior positions include many assignments in forestry and engineering at the field level and many senior management positions in operation unit management (District Ranger) and program management at both the Regional and National level for the US Forest Service. John retired from the agency with 32 years of experience four years ago and has been working in non-profit conservation in Hawaii for the last 3 years. John holds a BS in Forestry from Humboldt State University and an MS in Logging Engineering from Oregon State University.
