Direct Source, a tier-one retail technology consultant and solutions provider, has launched a new hardware-as-a-service (HasS) offering at the NRF 102nd Annual Convention & EXPO, January 13-16 in New York City to help retailers more quickly cost-justify and adopt the latest mobile technologies. With the current pace of mobile device advancements, many retailers are hesitant to invest in devices that may be outdated in as little as 6-9 months.
Working with Direct Source, retailers can now have access to the most up-to-date mobile hardware devices, with the option to upgrade at any time. They simply pay a monthly charge for use of the technology, and can easily upgrade as new devices become available.
With its professional services team, Direct Source takes care of site surveys to determine the hardware needs, installation and de-installation of devices and shipping & taxes. The turnkey offering can incorporate all the retailer’s needs for hardware and associated software, support, warranty, replacement and maintenance needs.
“Mobile devices change so fast, and retailers are struggling to map out short- and long-term mobile strategies,” said Brad Fick, president, Direct Source. “We’re now able to help retailers implement the latest mobile solutions and refresh hardware in cycles, without making a long-term commitment to one platform or device. This is more cost-effective and ensures that the retailer has the most up-to-date devices in place.”
While many retailers are focused on mobile devices to enable mobile point of sale (mPOS), payments and mobile store associate tools, Direct Source will also offer contractual use of mobile devices, tablets, peripherals and other hardware devices through the hardware-as-a-service (HasS) offering, such as traditional POS devices and loss prevention / video equipment.
As a vendor-neutral integrator, Direct Source is independently educated about the range of in-store hardware solutions available to retailers. Direct Source examines all usage factors, application demands, security and ruggedness elements that retailers and staff require. Efficient chain-wide rollouts of new technology are made possible with Direct Source’s network of more than 2,500 installation specialists across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
