RIM Changes Its Name

The name change came at the great reveal of two brand new QNX-based phones

Research in Motion Wednesday morning changed its name to BlackBerry to put RIM's awful failures behind it as it launches the new BlackBerry 10 smartphone it hopes will change its fortunes.

The name change came at the great reveal of two brand new QNX-based phones in the Big Apple: the BlackBerry Z10, a virtual keyboard-style widget in the fashion of the iPhone and the BlackBerry Q10, a smartphone that caters to the old RIM installed base and reprises the beloved RIM-style physical keyboard.

The name change extends to the company's ticker symbol, which is now BBRY.
