OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 01/31/13 -- His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, presented the insignia of Member of the Order of Canada to Mr. Kildare Dobbs during a private ceremony in Toronto, Ontario, on January 31, 2013. Mr. Dobbs was appointed Member of the Order of Canada on November 19, 2012.

Kildare Dobbs has long been a leading figure in Canadian publishing and journalism. While a senior editor at Macmillan Canada, he was an early contributor to the CBC programs "Anthology" and "Ideas", and co-founded the Tamarack Review, a literary magazine supporting the efforts of aspiring writers. He then turned his attention to print journalism, writing for Star Weekly, the Toronto Star and for Saturday Night, where he also served as managing editor. His ongoing literary output spans more than 50 years, from his Governor General's Award-winning memoir, to poetry, short stories and travel writing.
