Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY) announced today that its subsidiary, Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc., in Huntsville, Ala., has been awarded a five year prime contract with a potential total value of $120.1 million to continue providing dedicated payload operations and integration support for the International Space Station (ISS) and other Marshall Space Flight Center managed missions.
Teledyne Brown has supplied more than 100,000 hours of round the clock support to the ISS Payload Operations Integration Center in the 15 years since being awarded the initial contract. The company has played a major role in supporting NASA science research aboard the ISS through the integration of payloads, providing crew training activities for these payloads, developing experiment procedures and delivering real-time support to science teams from around the world.
“Teledyne has an extraordinary history of supporting NASA science operations on the International Space Station,” said Robert Mehrabian, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Teledyne Technologies. “This award speaks to our strengths in remote space-based science operations and is highly complementary to our commercial space imaging business.”
Teledyne Brown’s experts are the link between scientists, the astronauts and experiments conducted on the ISS. In addition, the company’s staff manages payload resources, communications with the crew, and collection of experiment data and provides 24/7 flight console operations along with the training and certification of console operators.
The new contract goes into effect March 1, 2013.
