"Backup is an ongoing IT task that all our customers need - and that they're all looking to us to help them with," says Mark Wertz, General Manager of Mizon, an IT services provider based in North Carolina. "And their backup requirements keep growing. They're accumulating larger volumes of data and new types of data including virtual machine images."
Heartburn Free Backups
IT managers who've used tape backup understand Mark when he says, "Our goal is to have ‘heartburn-free backups' for our customers - online backup where we are sure their data is protected, and where we don't have to spend any significant post-setup time checking to make sure everything is working properly." Zetta's 99.9999% reliability helps service providers and customers stay heartburn free.
Cost Matters The Most?
Cost is the big driver in online backup decisions for Mizon customers, according to Wertz. For Mizon, choosing and recommending a backup solution isn't just about price, but also about reliability, and ease of use.
"The least expensive online backup solution - that works - other than Zetta that I've seen has been around $1 per gigabyte per month. That client had close to 1 terabyte of data to protect. Using Zetta, we were able to reduce their backup costs by about 60%."
By moving existing backup customers to Zetta, "We've saved money for all these clients," says Wertz. And we've reduced the amount of back-end support time by Mizon staff needed to keep the backups going - time which isn't always billable to clients."
As a multi-client MSP, Mizon cares not just about the backup, but also the management interface to Zetta's services. "Zetta's single-sign-on web portal lets us manage our portfolio - all our customers who are using Zetta - in a single browser tab, what we used to call ‘one pane of glass,' rather than needing a separate tab, window or program instance for each, and having to log in individually to manage each customer."
"Online Backup that ‘doesn't create heartburn,' that's our goal and our clients' goal," says Wertz. "We're saving our clients money, reducing their data protection concerns, reducing our effort in providing great backups - and contributing to Mizon's revenue.
