Auntie Anne's® Pretzels and Carvel® Ice Cream Select MICROS as their Preferred Restaurant POS Vendor

COLUMBIA, Md., Feb. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MCRS), a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, is pleased to announce that Carvel® Ice Cream , franchisor and operator of over 450 food and beverage outlets worldwide, has selected the MICROS e7 all-in-one point-of-sale (POS) system as its preferred restaurant POS system.  In addition, Auntie Anne's® Pretzels has extended its existing MICROS e7 preferred vendor agreement with MICROS for its 1,000 U.S. franchised locations.

Auntie Anne's and Carvel, both operating under the FOCUS Brands portfolio, have each selected the MICROS e7 POS solution due to Auntie Anne's positive history with the product and MICROS Systems as a long-standing partner.  The MICROS e7 combines the reputation and reliability of MICROS' solutions with a cost-competitive and easy-to-manage POS solution.  Functionality of the MICROS e7 includes the management of guest transactions, staff productivity, menu offerings, and restaurant operations.  With MICROS' solution portfolio and global infrastructure, it is a product that can be easily deployed to Auntie Anne's and Carvel franchised locations throughout the United States.

"MICROS e7 has proved to be extremely reliable and easy-to-use for our 1,000 U.S. Auntie Anne's locations," stated Paul Gerhart, Director of Retail Technology – Specialty Brands, FOCUS Brands Inc.  "We were looking for the same results and track record for our Carvel locations.  After deploying the MICROS e7 product throughout the Auntie Anne's brand over the past five years, the FOCUS Brands Operations and Information Technology team is very confident that the easy-to-self-install MICROS e7 product's all-in-one architecture is the right decision for Carvel's franchise system."

"We are excited to extend our relationship to Carvel® and to continue our service to the Auntie Anne's sites," stated Ed Chapel, Executive Vice President, North America Restaurants, MICROS Systems, Inc.  "With its previous use of the MICROS e7 at its sister stores in the Auntie Anne's franchise system, Carvel has found the MICROS e7 to be easy to install, learn and use.  The expansion in the adoption of MICROS solutions within the Carvel and Auntie Anne's communities is a true testament to the success of the MICROS e7 and our strong partnership with these brands."
