SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/12/13 -- The Tech Museum of Innovation announced today that Christopher DiGiorgio, managing director - Northern California for Accenture, will serve as chairman of its Board of Directors.
DiGiorgio, who was unanimously elected to The Tech's 39-member board, takes over the role from eminent philanthropist and education advocate Ann Bowers, who was only the second woman to lead the influential museum panel.
"I am excited about working with The Tech President Tim Ritchie and the museum staff to help The Tech usher in a new generation of science and technology museums," DiGiorgio said. "The Tech is positioned to create new levels of engagement and inspiration. This kind of bold innovation is what the people of Silicon Valley have come to expect from their institutions, and it is our challenge to deliver on those expectations."
DiGiorgio is an active member of the Silicon Valley community. He serves as co-chair of the Joint Venture Silicon Valley, is on the Executive Committee of the Bay Area Council and the Advisory Board at Santa Clara University School of Business and is the vice chair of the Bay Area Economic Institute.
The Tech President Tim Ritchie said DiGiorgio's leadership skills would be put to good use as the museum continues to stimulate innovation and inspire learning locally, nationally and globally.
"Christopher brings to The Tech an entire career of helping companies make wise decisions about strategy, technology and innovation. He knows Silicon Valley, and Silicon Valley knows and respects him," Ritchie said. "We are lucky to have him at the helm of the Board, and we look forward to his good guidance in our efforts to take The Tech to new levels of impact and significance."
DiGiorgio is the museum's tenth board chair. His term ends May 9, 2014.
