LONDON, February 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
The greatest challenge SAR professionals are currently facing is how to ensure that the best life saving standards are practiced while trying to increasingly balance cost against required capability.
Search and Rescue Europe in association with the International Maritime Rescue Federation completed a survey of a cross-section of SAR resources globally obtains insight into the current trends and challenges within the industry.
This special industry report reveals their most pressing concerns including:
- Improving interoperability, communication and co-operation with other SAR resources is the biggest concern for more than one-third of organisations.
- The main issue hindering the development of a seamless Search and Rescue response is lack of leadership and too many resources operating with no 'big picture'.
- Funding is also impacting on the ability of organisations to deliver their services - reflecting the troubled economic landscape of recent years across Europe.
This report was prepared in collaboration with the upcoming Search and Rescue Europe 2013 conference, bringing together over 100 SAR professionals to discuss these topics and provide understanding of the best methods and technologies being used around the world by the SAR community, taking place 19th - 21st March 2013 in Portsmouth, UK.
