Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

GoDaddy.com Upgrades Key Hosting Plans
Storage & Data Transfer Features Doubled Without Any Price Hikes

By: PR Newswire
Aug. 3, 2006 12:00 PM

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- GoDaddy.com(R), a world leader in domain name registration and Web site hosting services, has doubled storage and data transfer features for Deluxe and Premium shared hosting accounts while maintaining the same low prices.

The dramatic increases mean Deluxe Hosting plans now offer 100 GB of storage with 1,000 GB of data transfer for as little as $5.59 per month. Premium Hosting plans will now provide 200 GB of storage space and 2,000 GB of data transfer for as low as $11.99 per month.

"Quality products and low prices are keys to our success at Go Daddy, always have been -- but the icing on the cake is our 24/7/365 customer support. For Web hosting, that level of support is vital," said Bob Parsons, CEO and founder of The Go Daddy Group, Inc. "We are always looking for ways to provide better value and service for our customers."

|-------------------|------------------------|-------------------------| | Service | Deluxe Hosting | Premium Hosting | |-------------------|------------------------|-------------------------| | Disk Space | Increased from | Increased from | | | 50 GB to 100 GB | 100 GB to 200 GB | |-------------------|------------------------|-------------------------| | Data Transfer | Increased from | Increased from | | | 500 GB to 1,000 GB | 1,000 GB to 2,000 GB | |-------------------|------------------------|-------------------------|

All hosting plans are available with either Windows or Linux operating systems to meet the needs of Web developers. Windows hosting supports ASP and .NET; Linux hosting includes support for PHP, Perl, Java, Python and Ruby on Rails. Deluxe hosting provides 1,000 email addresses and 25 MySQL databases; Premium plans come with 2,000 email addresses and 50 MySQL databases. Plans also include other extras, such as forums, blogs and photo galleries.

Netcraft Ltd., an industry analyst, has reported that Go Daddy is North America's largest hosting provider. In addition, The Go Daddy Group, Inc. has the most domain names under management -- with twice as many as its nearest competitors.

All Go Daddy hosting packages are supported by world-class datacenters and backed by a 99.9 percent uptime guarantee. There are no set-up fees or annual commitments required. Additionally, all hosting plans are supported by industry leading infrastructure; full network redundancy; enterprise-class backup and restore technology; 24/7/365 monitoring and physical security.
