OWINGS MILLS, Md., March 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Groveton Green Apartments, a $35 million luxury eco-friendly community, celebrated a key milestone and established itself in history by becoming the first and only apartments in the Owings Mills, Maryland area to receive LEED Gold Certification. On March 7th at 2 p.m. Groveton Green Apartments will be officially awarded LEED Gold Certification by Roger Platt, Senior Vice President of Global Policy & Law, from the U.S Green Building Council (USGBC). County Executive Kevin Kamenetz is sending Vincent Gardina, Baltimore County Director of Environmental Protection and Sustainability, as his and the County's representative to participate in the event. The award will be presented in a ceremony in the Groveton Green Clubhouse at 9401 Groveton Circle, which is one block from the intersection of Lakeside Drive and Atrium Court in Owings Mills.
A globally recognized green building rating system, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) provides third-party verification that a building was designed and built using USGBC strategies aimed at improving energy savings, water efficiency, emissions reduction, indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources.
FORE has dedicated itself to being an industry leader in green building initiatives with five LEED designed apartment communities already. "Groveton Green is another example of the continued commitment we have to building towards a better and healthier future," said Jim Sullivan.
