Specifically, the lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Court of the 17th Judicial District in and for Broward County, Florida. The case was assigned to the General Jurisdiction Division and it was given a case number of 12-28214. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of an individual female plaintiff and the named defendants included Pembroke Lakes Mall, Ltd., Millard Mall Services, Inc. and Mydatt Services, Inc. d.b.a. Valor Security Services.

According to the court documents that were filed in furtherance of this lawsuit, the plaintiff was lawfully on the premises of the defendant for the purpose of shopping, thereby providing her with a legal status of an invitee. As she was walking through the mall, she unwittingly encountered a pool of water that had allegedly gathered on the ground beneath her. She slipped and fell because of this accumulation of water and she suffered injuries to her back and to her knee. The court documents went on to state that the plaintiff required knee surgery as a result of this fall that occurred because of the negligence of the defendants.

The court documents specifically allege that the defendants either knew or should have known of the dangerous condition on the property that was this pool of water. The documents further stated that the plaintiffs did not take steps to remove this dangerous condition nor did they clearly warn foreseeable entrants to the property of its existence. 

Finally, the court documents allege that the plaintiff suffered several forms of loss because of this incident including medical costs, lost income, pain and suffering and other forms of loss that have already been incurred and those that will be realized in the future. The lawsuit is seeking an unspecified amount of damages as a result of this alleged incident, and the case remains pending within the Florida court system.
