New Canon imageCLASS Color Laser Multifunction Printers Offer Wireless Connectivity and Mobile Printing

Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today introduced two new additions to its imageCLASS line – the Color imageCLASS MF8280Cw and MF8580Cdw laser multifunction printers (MFPs). The new color machines expand on the success of their popular predecessors with higher print resolutions, user-friendly technology and mobile printing capabilities to help meet the needs of small businesses, workgroups, home offices and consumers.

Developed to help increase productivity, the MF8280Cw and the MF8580Cdw allow end users to print from virtually anywhere in their home or office1. Both machines support the current 802.11 b/g/n wireless protocol, allowing for a cable-free, hassle-free solution for printing documents. In addition to wireless capabilities, the new printers allow individuals to scan to or print files directly from a USB. They are also compatible with Google® Cloud PrintTM 4 and the Canon Mobile Printing app2 for iOS®, providing users the convenience of printing a variety of file types directly from their smartphones and tablets.

In addition to a new intuitive seven-line color LCD display, users can easily access the scan and eco-copy functions right from the control panel with the simple solution keys. The MF8280Cw and MF8580Cdw are equipped with password-protected Department ID Management, which allows device usage to be monitored and controlled to help reduce costs. Energy consumption may also be reduced with Canon’s efficient Energy Saver Mode, which uses as little as 2 watts of energy.

“To remain competitive in this market, home and office users need workhorse products that produce professional quality output at affordable prices,” said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. “The new Color imageCLASS laser multifunction printers are high-performance machines that include necessary functions such as wireless connectivity to help create an efficient work environment.”

Helping to reduce paper consumption, this printer ships with standard duplex (two-sided) printing out of the box; duplex copying, scanning and PC faxing are also included, as are user-friendly features such as a seven-line color LCD for easy navigation. For added convenience, a user can send scanned documents and forward received faxes to a recipient through e-mail or a file server directly from the printer. The MF8580Cdw is equipped with a 50-sheet duplex ADF, 250-sheet front-loading cassette, 50-sheet multipurpose tray, and an optional 250-sheet cassette for extended print capacity. To help protect confidential documents, the MF8580Cdw features Secure Print which requires users to enter a code to release their print documents. The MF8580Cdw also incorporates PCL language support and a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) compatible Address Book which helps facilitate quick and easy scanning and sending.
