Cummins & White Attorney Michael Houston Named Interim City Attorney for Anaheim

NEWPORT BEACH, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/12/13 -- Cummins & White, LLP, a well known full-service business, government entity, and insurance law practice, announced that partner Michael R.W. Houston has been named interim City Attorney for the City of Anaheim, the 10th largest city in California. The Anaheim City Council unanimously approved the appointment at its Feb. 19 meeting and Houston assumed office March 1.

As interim City Attorney, Houston will oversee the operation and management of the civil division of the Anaheim City Attorney's Office, which provides legal services to the City Council, all city departments, and city boards and commissions. With Houston, the office consists of 11 civil attorneys.

Houston joined Cummins & White as a partner in 2011, where he leads the regulatory law and government agency practice group. He has served as the assistant City Attorney for the City of La Quinta, and has provided legal counsel for the cities of Chula Vista, Corona, Costa Mesa, Marina, Napa, National City, Newport Beach, Pico Rivera, and San Diego. Houston also has served as outside counsel for the Association of California Cities - Orange County. Prior to joining Cummins & White, Houston was a partner at Rutan & Tucker, LLP, and was an associate at the global law firm Gary, Cary, Ware and Freidenrich (now DLA Piper). He graduated from Chapman University with a bachelor's degree in political science, and received his law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law.
