Women in Cable Telecommunications Announces 2014 Senior Executive Summit

Following the successful debut of its Senior Executive Summit last month, Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) today announced the dates of the 2014 program, which will take place March 16-20, 2014, on the campus of the Stanford Graduate School of Business in Palo Alto, CA. WICT and Stanford will collaboratively develop a continuing curriculum to provide fresh content next year.

The WICT Senior Executive Summit is a master class immersion program designed to educate the highest-ranking women in cable, giving them the tools and knowledge they need to hone their skills. The curriculum for the program is specifically customized for WICT and is taught by leading professors and business leaders through Stanford. More information about the program may be found on the WICT website at www.wictSES.org.

“We are thrilled with the outcome of our efforts to reengineer and relaunch the Senior Executive Summit,” said Maria E. Brennan, CAE, WICT President & CEO. “Our collaboration with Stanford to create the most innovative and ground-breaking curriculum has proven to be a strong partnership. We appreciate the industry’s support of this inaugural summit, and we are grateful to Scripps Networks Interactive for their generous sponsorship of the program.”

Added WICT 2013/2014 Board Chair, Mary Meduski, EVP & CFO, Suddenlink Communications, “The exchange of information, quality of discussion and challenging curriculum surpassed other executive education programs I have experienced. And while it will be difficult next year to exceed the high bar established in 2013, I am confident that WICT and Stanford are up to the challenge.”

In addition to the esteemed Stanford faculty, Padmasree Warrior, Chief Technology & Strategy Officer of Cisco Systems, joined the lineup of speakers, inspiring program attendees with her very personal insights into strategy, technology and leadership. She delved into topics relevant to women leaders, including the importance of authenticity, collaboration and building community in the workplace.

Elements of the SES curriculum included techniques for advancing innovation within a company; neuroscience and the connection to exemplary leadership; and the important role conflict can play in team relationships.

Participants found the subject matter highly beneficial:

“Combining outstanding Stanford Business School faculty, highly relevant content, cutting edge research and the talent of 34 executive women in the cable industry made for an extremely productive week. I would do it again in a heartbeat.” Amy Tykeson, President & CEO, Bend Broadband

“The faculty and staff of the Stanford Business School's Executive Education program put together a multi-day curriculum that successfully leveraged the innovation DNA of the Valley and reinforced best practices for innovative leadership. I found it helpful and productive to share many of the topics and research findings with my team and colleagues.” Joan Gillman, President, Time Warner Cable Media/EVP, Time Warner Cable

“The level of the participants and the curriculum was unmatched. Being able to share the program’s inspiring information with my classmates was truly priceless.” – Ellen Kroner, EVP, Corporate Communications & Marketing, AMC Networks

“WICT’s Senior Executive Summit exceeded my expectations on a daily basis, providing both a valuable learning experience and rare chance to build relationships with colleagues across the industry. I would highly recommend this one-of-a-kind experience to other cable executives.” Gemma Toner, SVP, Broadband Product Management, Cablevision

“The program far exceeded my expectations, and I found it immensely rewarding. The curriculum was on point and the interaction between the faculty and participants was as informative as the content.” – Cynthia Gibson, EVP, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, Scripps Networks Interactive

WICT gratefully acknowledges Scripps Networks Interactive as the sponsor of the 2013 Senior Executive Summit.

DevOps is about increasing efficiency, but nothing is more inefficient than building the same application twice. However, this is a routine occurrence with enterprise applications that need both a rich desktop web interface and strong mobile support.
