Mobile Satellite Ventures Appoints Wade Alt Vice President of Services Distribution and Management

By: PR Newswire
Aug. 24, 2006 09:35 PM

RESTON, Va., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV), at the forefront of developing the first hybrid satellite-terrestrial communications network, announced today that Wade Alt has joined the company as Vice President of Services Distribution and Management. Mr. Alt will report to Jack Dziak, Senior Vice President of Services and Distribution, and will assist in the formulation and management of MSV's distribution and delivery agreements with strategic channel partners for existing and next generation services portfolio.

Mr. Alt joins MSV after serving as Director of Corporate Strategy and Business Development for MCI Communications (now Verizon Business). In this role, he was responsible for developing and executing MCI's strategic direction, leading technology and business teams focusing on long-term opportunities in enterprise mobility, soft-client peer-to-peer VoIP, dual-mode voice, wireless data services platform(s), and WiFi enabled RAS offerings. In addition, he formulated and executed long-term strategic alliance agreements in mobile enterprise voice, data and applications.

"Wade is a tremendous addition to MSV, and brings an impressive combination of services implementation, business operations and support and channel development skills. Along with his deep functional and business knowledge of mobile communications, I'm confident that Wade's impact on our strategic objectives will be immediate and lasting," said Jack Dziak, MSV's Senior Vice President for Services and Distribution.

"Developing a high bandwidth mobile network with an open IP platform will allow MSV to offer a truly unique service experience," said Alt. "Coupled with the significant coverage expansion enabled by the advanced terrestrial component of our satellites, we're witnessing the beginnings of a re- definition of mobile services. We will change the way people and companies harness the power of IP through mobile applications. I look forward to playing an active role in that transformation."

Prior to joining MCI, Mr. Alt was a Senior Manager at Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting), serving in the Communications and High Tech vertical market unit. During his eight year tenure, he served a broad range of clients in the communications, high tech, products, and software markets, performing everything from business strategy and new market formulation to systems implementation, with a consistent emphasis on wireless and mobility technologies. Previously, Mr. Alt was with American Management Systems, where he worked on worldwide implementations of federal financial systems for the Department of State and Department of Agriculture agencies.

About Mobile Satellite Ventures

Mobile Satellite Ventures LP (MSV) is at the forefront of the development of the first hybrid satellite-terrestrial communications network, which will provide seamless, transparent and ubiquitous wireless coverage of North America to conventional handsets. It has extensive patents on the technology and holds the first and only FCC license to provide these services. Along with its Canadian joint venture partner, MSV Canada, MSV plans to launch two satellites for North American coverage, which will be among the largest and most powerful commercial satellites ever built. When completed, the network will transform communications in a variety of areas including public safety, homeland security, aviation, transportation and entertainment, by providing interoperable, user-friendly and feature-rich voice and high-speed data services. MSV received the first ATC license granted by the FCC, marking a new era for the mobile satellite industry.

Today MSV offers customers a wide choice of wireless data, voice, fax and dispatch radio services via the two MSAT satellites. It provides superior capacity and reliability across North America, northern South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Hawaii and their coastal waters.

MSV is privately held and its primary investors include Motient Corporation, SkyTerra Communications, TMI Communications, Columbia Capital, and Spectrum Equity Investors.
