VANCOUVER, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Xantrex Technology Inc. (TSX:XTX) has received an order for portable powerpacks valued at $1 million from a major US home improvement retailer for delivery by the end of September 2006 in time for the Christmas shopping season. This order represents the first major order for Xantrex powerpacks to this new US customer.

Pioneered by Xantrex over five years ago, XPower Powerpacks use Xantrex's advanced power electronics technology to convert direct current from an integrated battery into household quality electricity.
