Informatica Lifts SAP into the Cloud

The Informatica Cloud processes more than two billion cloud integration transactions a day

Informatica has extended its SAP integration with the Summer Release of its cloud-based integration and data management Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions powered by its integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS).

The SAP connectivity comes compliments of Informatica’s Cloud SAP Connector and provides native SAP table reading and writing capabilities in the cloud.

It says the connector lets users:

  • Easily extract data from SAP ERP Central Component (ECC) implementations for integrations with on-premise or SaaS applications, databases and files in support of data synchronization, data migration, data warehousing and BI initiatives.
  • Browse SAP metadata with business descriptions in the cloud providing self-service to business analysts and functional users who can easily switch between business and technical names in support of data migration, data warehousing and BI, and data synchronization activities.
  • Leverage new SAP Table Reader and Writer connectivity to extract data from SAP Transparent, Cluster and Pooled tables, from SAP Views, or load data into custom transparent tables using Insert, Update and Delete functionality.

There is also SAP HANA connectivity via ODBC for high-performance analytics; enhanced SAP support for cloud integration templates with SAP IDoc Reader and Writer supported as source and target; and SAP BAPI transformations supported in custom integration tasks.

Informatica Cloud Extend offers Salesforce.com customers business process automation capabilities so non-programmers can create and publish “guides” that are accessed by users within Salesforce views, web pages or mobile devices.

Informatica Cloud Summer 2013 delivers enhancements in cloud data quality and master data management (MDM) for Salesforce.com supporting multi-type/multi-source/multi-dimensional hierarchies to aid in visualizing and tracking multiple business interactions and entities.

This enables Salesforce customers to collaborate better on key customer interactions, manage complex territories, and leverage pre-built hierarchies from third-party data providers, as well as their own back-office systems to uncover cross-sell/upsell or white space opportunities.

The new hierarchy management capabilities make Informatica Cloud MDM the foundation of trustworthy reporting and analytics for Salesforce. Informatica Cloud Data Masking is the first comprehensive SaaS solution for protecting data privacy in application development and test environments such as SaaS application sandboxes.

Informatica has several new Cloud Connectors and Integration Templates available in its Marketplace. They can be had on a free 30-day trial on the Cloud Marketplace Mall, which includes connectors for Microsoft SharePoint, JSON, Hive (Hadoop) and QuickBooks Online as well as SAPto-Salesforce, Workday-to-Concur and Workday-to-NetSuite integrations.

“The next phase of cloud computing requires a shift from real-time flows and analyses of data to right-time flows,” said Ray Wang, principal analyst and CEO of Constellation Research. “Companies will increasingly move operational and business intelligence data functions to the cloud, as the demand for fluid, real-time information increases. More importantly, context will be key in providing relevancy. Cloud solutions must address these needs to help customers win in the marketplace.”
