Improving the Efficiency of SOA-Based Applications
jhv1blz5 wrote: The article validated SOA as an IT architecture paradigm that can be leveraged in many ways. Taking data storage, scalability and application performance to a nifty level using SOA Application Grid infrastructure will no doubt enhance data and application performance on Oracle architecture platforms, it also has the promise of a cost effective and efficient IT delivery model. The very benefits of SOA.

By: PR Newswire
Sep. 13, 2006 04:37 PM

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., LOS ANGELES, and SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless and Viva! Vision announced today the addition of Viva! Vision TV, a Latino youth channel, to Verizon Wireless' V CAST service. The channel, available in October, is powered by Viva! Vision, the leading provider of branded, original and user-generated content targeted at the Latino community. With Viva! Vision TV, Verizon Wireless V CAST customers can experience exciting Latino content on their mobile phones.

"Verizon Wireless' mission is to deliver relevant content that resonates with our customers," said John Harrobin, vice president of digital media for Verizon Wireless. "Our relationship with Viva! Vision allows us to offer our Hispanic customers great mobile entertainment while capitalizing on Viva's knowledge and experience in dealing with this dynamic, trend-setting community."

At the forefront of mobile video adoption, Hispanics are an important market for wireless providers who understand that unique and compelling content can drive new acquisitions, increase average revenue per user (ARPU) and improve customer loyalty. With Viva! Vision TV, Verizon Wireless V CAST customers will have a one-stop-shop for Latin music, entertainment, lifestyle and comedy programming. Delivered via Verizon Wireless's Evolution Data-Optimized (EV-DO) network, the Viva! Vision V CAST channel will feature a wide variety of content ranging from Reggaeton to regional Mexican music to exclusive red carpet interviews with the hottest Latino celebrities to the funniest stand-up by the latest Latino comedians.

"Viva! Vision has been thrilling mobile audiences across Latin America for more than two years," said Nick Montes, vice president and general manager of Viva! Vision. "We are excited to bring a truly relevant Latin channel line-up to Verizon Wireless customers from coast-to-coast and to contribute to the success of one of the nation's most innovative wireless services."

Viva! Vision's experience, bundled with the executives' excellent track record in the entertainment and wireless industries, reinforces the company's leadership position in delivering mobile content for the diverse Latino market. As the demand for targeted content increases, Viva! Vision's name is becoming synonymous with Latino mobile entertainment.

"What differentiates Viva! Vision is its dedication and its passion in serving the Latino community," said Curtis Hutten, co-chairman and chief executive officer of Viva! Vision. "The agreement with Verizon Wireless is the latest demonstration of the company's success."

To get V CAST, Verizon Wireless customers can equip their V CAST-enabled phones with a V CAST VPak subscription for $15.00 monthly access added to their Verizon Wireless calling plan. The subscription includes unlimited basic video -- including the Viva! Vision mobile video channel -- but application download fees apply for 3D games and premium video. There are no airtime charges to download, stream or watch V CAST content.
