Paula Phillippe joins Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota as Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Communications and Community Relations

EAGAN, Minn., July 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota (Blue Cross) today announced the appointment of Paula Phillippe as senior vice president of human resources, communications and community relations. In this role, she will be responsible for managing the company's efforts in attracting, retaining, developing and engaging the key talent needed to support all business strategies and objectives. Phillippe will have oversight for all compensation and benefits programs; talent, learning and performance management programs; payroll and HR information systems; diversity and employee relations; internal and external communications; community relations; and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation.

Phillippe comes to Blue Cross from Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Systems, where as senior vice president and chief human resources officer, she managed a staff of 250 and led human resource strategies in support of more than 20,000 employees across an integrated care network of hospitals and medical centers, Ebenezer senior services, and health system services. Prior to Fairview, she served as senior vice president, chief human resources and communications officer for Marquette Financial Companies. Phillippe's experience also includes human resources leadership positions with Piper Jaffray and RBC Dain Rauscher, where her progression of increased responsibilities culminated in an appointment to executive vice president and chief administrative officer. Phillippe's experience with health care began early in her career with a human resources and marketing position at Fairmount Community Hospital.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Phillippe earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in industrial relations. She has been active in community organizations, including serving on the boards of the Children's Theatre Company, the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches, the American Heart Association, Klein Bank, and the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce. She will join the organization on August 5.
