At the upcoming SHARE in Boston conference, internationally renowned security technology expert and CTO of BT, Bruce Schneier, will speak to over 1,200 enterprise technology professionals from companies employing mainframe systems and related technologies in his keynote address, ‘Surviving in a Feudal Security World.’
Schneier will speak to navigating the new world of security, which he compares to the concept of feudalism, and both the challenges and solutions mainframe technology users can expect. Schneier is the author of 12 books -- including Liars and Outliers: Enabling the Trust Society Needs to Survive -- as well as hundreds of articles, essays, and academic papers. His influential newsletter "Crypto-Gram" and his blog "Schneier on Security" are read by over 250,000 people. He has testified before Congress, is a frequent guest on television and radio, has served on several government committees, and is regularly quoted in the press on issues of security.
“We’re excited to have Bruce Schneier at SHARE in Boston, and expect his talk to be one of the highlights of the content-rich week,” said Brian Peterson, SHARE President. “As one of the foremost authorities on security issues, he is uniquely qualified to speak to the coming challenges and opportunities that mainframe technologists face.”
In addition to Schneier, IBM’s Greg Lotko, VP & Business Line Executive, System z; and Kevin Barber, Associate Director, Medication Management Center of University of Arizona’s College of Pharmacy will give the other keynote presentation, ‘zEnterprise – The Smarter Computing Choice – Interactive Panel on Why z.’ This presentation focuses on System z’s strengths and how they address the shift from stable to unpredictable workloads; from static infrastructures to cloud services - and why the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy selected System z to fulfill these needs. SHARE in Boston also has over 500 technical sessions planned for the week, covering hot topics such as Big Data, Cloud, Mobility, Virtualization and more.
Beyond educational sessions, SHARE in Boston also offers ample opportunities for attendees to make new contacts through social and networking events. The events are invaluable in helping conference attendees in building their personal and professional networks. Registration for SHARE in Boston is still open, and one-day passes will also available on Tuesday, August 13 for Bruce Schneier’s talk.
