Enterprise technology professionals will have an opportunity to get a first look at and discuss IBM’s recently introduced zEnterprise BC12 (zBC12) platform at the upcoming SHARE in Boston conference, happening August 11-16 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
The new zBC12, which offers twice the capacity at the entry level at the same low price as its predecessor the z114, will be featured in multiple sessions beginning Monday, August 12. Attendees will be able to listen to presentations from IBM experts that explain the technical features and practical benefits of moving to the zBC12 platform from other technologies, and will have the opportunity to ask questions and participate in discussions before, during and after these formal sessions.
Announced July 23, 2013, zBC12 is designed as an entry point for enterprise computing. It embodies the same innovation and value, flexible growth options, industry-leading virtualization, trusted resiliency, secure cloud, enterprise mobility and operational analytics capabilities as the massively scalable IBM zEnterprise EC12. The zBC12 delivers a lower and more granular cost structure with significant improvements in packaging, performance and total system scalability over prior generations.
“With challenges such as Big Data, cloud and mobile computing top-of-mind with enterprises right now, the mainframe is going through a renaissance,” said Brian Peterson, SHARE President. “More organizations are rediscovering that the mainframe already does the things they want to do, such as manage unpredictable or ‘spikey’ workloads and protect their data. The zBC12 provides an affordable entry point to it. We are excited that SHARE in Boston will provide one of the first opportunities for enterprise technology professionals to dig in deeply to its capabilities, and hear about its benefits directly from the experts. Anyone who is even remotely interested in improving their organization’s computing performance should plan to attend these sessions.”
Beyond educational sessions, SHARE in Boston also offers ample opportunities for attendees to make new contacts through social and networking events. The events are invaluable in helping conference attendees in building their personal and professional networks. Registration for SHARE in Boston is still open, and one-day passes are available for all days, including Wednesday, August 14 when the bulk of the sessions on zBC12 are being held.
