GOLD RIVER, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/08/13 -- As part of their Community Giving program, SkinStore.com, an international e-commerce specialty retailer providing scientifically sound solutions for healthy skin, spent an afternoon at the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, touring the facility and sorting food and clothing donations.
The Walgreens National Day of Caring presented an opportunity for the SkinStore.com team to volunteer within their community. The volunteer group toured the Sacramento facility, which provides emergency goods and services to 15,000 men, women and children each month. After the tour and an overview of the programs and support provided, the team helped sort through bins of donated food and clothing, learning that for every dollar donated, $10 worth of goods and services are returned to the community.
SkinStore has organized food drives and collected donations for the Food Bank in the past, but the opportunity to volunteer for an afternoon was a much more rewarding experience. The facility and the families it serves depend on community support and volunteers.
Sue Broderick of SkinStore.com, said, "Spending time at the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services was really an eye-opening experience. We learned they are so much more than a food bank, providing clothing, educational services, parenting classes and senior programs. We are proud to support this incredible organization."
