The University of Mississippi’s students, faculty and staff can now be proactive about increasing their personal security, thanks to the University integrating the MyForce service offering and responding to alerts on campus. MyForce bolsters safety by adding another layer to existing support systems on the Ole Miss campus.
The University of Mississippi integrated the MyForce Campus System into its existing campus safety programs, giving police officials access to the MyForce monitoring system. When a user sends a MyForce alert from a smartphone, the monitoring system allows MyForce security professionals and University Police to immediately assess the situation by listening to audio, viewing the user’s profile and location, and dispatching help to the exact location, if needed. In this way, the MyForce Campus System allows University Police to respond faster and more accurately than previous systems afforded. When a user is off campus, the MyForce team coordinates the response with local 911 dispatch based on the user’s real-time location—providing increased protection both on and off campus, 24/7 nationwide.
“At Ole Miss we want our family and guests to have every option available to contact us in an emergency. 911 and our Blue Light Emergency Telephone Poles have proven their worth for many years. However, in this age of ever increasing technology we are constantly evaluating new options.
“As we began researching new technologies, MyForce rose to the top of the list. The MyForce GPS tracking system makes it possible to quickly identify who needs assistance and their location on campus. This system also allows immediate access to the medical and safety concerns the subscriber has loaded in their profile.
“Other exciting aspects of this system are witness intervention and crime prevention. I believe having this system on campus empowers witnesses to intervene before crimes occur,” as described by Officer Jeff Kellum, Crime Prevention Coordinator, University of Mississippi Police Department.
Unlike other personal security options, users provide MyForce with important information during registration, such as their name, photo, emergency contacts and known safety issues. During a crisis, all relevant information is immediately available to the professionally trained MyForce security team—the user’s identity, audio, and GPS location. MyForce agents don’t have to waste time asking questions, but instead act swiftly and efficiently to coordinate an emergency response with University Police or local authorities. MyForce users are in good hands knowing their crisis is managed by a UL-listed, 5-Diamond CSAA Certified Central Station.
“MyForce is perfect for college students during an emergency, because if someone is being attacked, they don’t always have the ability to talk on the phone, or they may be at a party or witness to an event where emergency help is needed,” said Brad Zotti, MyForce Chief Executive Officer. “MyForce is unique in its ability to eliminate the often cumbersome middle step of relaying the necessary information to get help from emergency responders. Instead, users simply press a button and can confidently know that help is on the way. With MyForce, users never have to walk alone, we’re with you.”
The University of Mississippi is the seventh institution to integrate the free MyForce Campus System into its existing safety program. All Ole Miss parents, students and faculty can try the MyForce service free for 30 days, and thereafter continue using MyForce for monthly or annual memberships at a discounted rate.
MyForce is like a mobile bodyguard that arms users against danger with one touch sent from any iPhone, Android or Blackberry, and works across all carrier networks. MyForce gives users confidence and security against threats while providing families with freedom from worry. Founded by two safety-conscious fathers, Brad Zotti (CEO) and Charlie Groves (COO), MyForce is headquartered in Denver, but available nationwide. The MyForce Campus System is currently in use on seven campuses.
