Iatric Systems Inc., a comprehensive healthcare IT integration company, today announced that Jeff McGeath, vice president of patient care device integration, has been appointed co-chair of the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Patient Care Device (PCD) Domain Technical Committee.
In this role, McGeath will help lead and maintain the pace of the organization’s efforts as it develops IHE integration profiles and plans development activities, such as testing events and educational programs. Formed in 2005, the IHE PCD Domain addresses the integration of medical devices in healthcare from the point-of-care to EHRs to significantly enhance patient care and safety. The committee is composed of medical device/systems users and developers.
“Integrating disparate devices and systems can greatly impact patient care, as well as play a significant role in helping hospitals reach their healthcare and Meaningful Use goals. I am very passionate about the power of integration, which is why I have been a member of IHE and involved in its Connectathon and other events for several years,” said Jeff McGeath, vice president of patient care device integration for Iatric Systems. “I am excited for the opportunity to co-chair the IHE PCD Domain Technical Committee as we work together with technology companies and hospitals to help them navigate through healthcare integration and enhance how clinicians access patient data.”
McGeath was voted into this position by current members of the IHE PCD Domain Technical Committee. He will serve a two-year term, which begins on September 1.
“This appointment is a natural fit for Jeff, especially with his extensive experience integrating a multitude of devices and systems. Additionally, Jeff’s continued commitment to IHE and the PCD Domain further solidifies his leadership in the integration space,” said Frank Fortner, president of Iatric Systems. “As the healthcare industry continues to shift toward more patient-centric care, there is an increasing emphasis on the need for clinicians to have access to pertinent patient data at all times. This is why organizations like IHE, which assists technology companies and healthcare organizations eliminate data silos enterprise-wide, are so vitally important.”
McGeath has more than 15 years of experience working in healthcare technology. He co-founded Accent on Integration (AOI) in 2006, which focused on helping hospitals connect disparate technologies and enable data integration across organizations. With Iatric Systems acquiring AOI earlier this year, McGeath uses his experience integrating a plethora of technologies and HIS solutions to identify new technologies that will help Iatric Systems customers gain better access to patient data and improve patient care and safety.
