FAIRPLEX, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/20/13 -- Los Angeles attracts more than 40 million tourists each year, peaking in the summer months of July, August and September, with international travelers, out-of-state sightseers and resident roamers looking to squeeze the most fun out of the Southern California sun. Nestled on 487 acres, the L.A. County Fair is SoCal's favorite way to prolong summer. Where else can you find underwater and animal adventures rivaling those in San Diego, animation workshops and Star Trek exhibitions straight from Hollywood, and wine tasting experiences from Napa Valley all in one place? Experience classic rides, food and entertainment that only come around once a year at this year's L.A. County Fair from Aug. 30 through Sept. 29.
Some of the coolest characters will be at this year's Fair including: the Avengers superheroes -- Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk -- at America's Kids Living Library of Fun; Mermaid Melissa in her underwater habitat; Walt Disney's animations at Pencils 2 Pixels; Star Trek characters at Star Trek: The Exhibition; and some of the hottest acts in music from classic rock tribute bands to Trace Adkins, Demi Lovato, Ke$ha, The Jacksons, Lynyrd Skynyrd and many more at the End of Summer Concert Series!
Cool characters aren't the only delights you'll find! More than 400 animals from around the globe will roam through five exhibits. Discover the mysteries of the Amazon with Paco the sloth, Hoover the anteater and their emerald boa, toucan and other tropical friends. Get close to amphibians, arachnids, monkeys and mares of Africa including Lily the Spider monkey, Mojo the Capuchin monkey, zebras, camels, lizards and more.
Come down to our farm where kids can see firsthand where milk comes from at the Dairy Goat Barn and Daisy's Education Barn. Guests can learn how to make ice cream, butter and cottage cheese with Aunt Cindi and Uncle Bob at Uncle Bob's Curds & Whey Barn. Angelenos looking to escape the city can visit Max's Country Farm, a new show featuring a fox, possum and barn owl for a country experience here in L.A.
Did you know an average of 100 baby animals are born each year at the L.A. County Fair? Lucky Fair visitors can witness a baby birth right before their eyes, or see these cuties being fed at Zuckerman's Nursery. These loveable baby animals are a treat for children and animal lovers alike.
For an ultimate Fair experience, travel Beneath the Sea at this year's unique Underwater Adventure, complete with a 30-minute sea lion show, 5,000 gallons of shark-filled water and a separate petting area for stingrays. Unleash your wild side at Esmeralda's Traveling Circus featuring the over 6 foot tall, 3,000-pound Hercules the Giant Horse and his petite pal, Tiny Tim, standing just under 2 feet tall.
