ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., Aug. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- TransMedia Group http://www.transmediagroup.com/ said it will publicize and arrange national TV distribution for Ms. Senior America Pageant featuring 60-plus-year-old contestants competing Oct. 20-25 at Resorts Casino Hotel for one of the oldest, most coveted crowns in pageantry.
"We retained TransMedia Group to make our event bigger and even safer as the PR firm has already brought us a sponsor, ComfiHips® (www.comfihips.com), a product we'll offer to our tap dancers to protect their hips when they perform," said Al Mott, who founded the national event in 1972.
"In the past some contestants have fallen and broken hips, so we don't want that to happen again, especially on national television."
Tom Madden, TransMedia's founder and a senior himself, said publicity will focus on Mott's having created such a popular event in response to what he felt at the time was a growing lack of respect for seniors in America. "He wanted to show there was still plenty of kick left in women in their sixties who still can be inspiring, attractive and crown worthy."
Madden, a former Vice President of TV Programming at NBC, said he is in discussions with a network to televise the event in Atlantic City, which happens to be his hometown. "I grew up near the blue parties, Boardwalk and Park Place, if anybody remembers the original Monopoly game."
Iris G. Onrot, CEO, Worldwide Ortho, LLC, will present an award to a volunteer for her service to U.S. troops. The award is named in honor of the late Col. Kevin McAleese, who volunteered for Ms. Senior America Pageant.
According to Dee Dee Sharp, "Ms. Senior America gives validation not only to women who've achieved success in their careers, but to those women who've dutifully followed their husbands around and are now finally getting a chance to shine on their own. It's also inspiring to see contestants who've survived cancer, stroke and other challenges reach for that crown."
Ms. Senior America Pageant is the world's first and foremost pageant to honor women who have reached the Age of Elegance. Senior America, Inc. is a non-profit corporation designed to enrich the lives of seniors and tap their energy to inspire others.
