TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 09/26/06 -- The Directors of Probe Mines Limited (TSX VENTURE: PRB) are pleased to announce that assay results have been received for their recently completed 10-hole, 1065m diamond drill program on the Norway Lake Project in the Atikokan area of Northwestern Ontario. A total of 514 samples, representing 479m of core, were taken. The base and precious metal mineralized horizon, first identified in a single trenched outcrop, was intersected in nine of ten holes, representing 200m of strike length and depths between 15 metres and 87 metres. The zone is open in all directions, and induced polarization geophysical results show the horizon extending for at least 500 metres. First phase drilling results indicate the mineralized zone is thickening to the west and at depth, and is also increasing in metal content with depth. These results clearly indicate that a second phase drill programme is warranted, which will focus on the western extension of the zone.

The mineralization consists of massive to disseminated low-iron sulphides containing sphalerite-pyrite-galena-chalcopyrite hosted by highly quartz-sericite altered felsic fragmental rocks and fits the volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) model. The last two holes of the program, NL-9 and NL-10, represent the most westerly drill holes of the program and the thickest intersections of the zone. Drill hole NL-10 intersected two mineralized volcanic layers over widths of 11 and 21 metres, from 27 to 38 metres and 63 to 84 metres depth, respectively, and returned values of up to 3.3% zinc, 26 g/t Ag and 1.9 g/t Au. Hole NL-9, which tested the zones below NL-10, intersected the volcanic horizon between 74 meters and 126 meters depth, which displays base and precious metal mineralization over the entire 52 metre wide felsic volcanic zone. Zinc, silver and gold values reached highs of 10.2% zinc, 100 g/t silver and 2.7 g/t gold. The interval contains only minor mafic interlayers (approximately 5 metres).

The company is very encouraged with results of this first ever drill test of this newly discovered zone. Following evaluation of these results, including additional check and multi element assays, a follow-up drill program is planned to test the projected zone to the west and down dip as well as several parallel, untested IP anomalies.

Drilling was contracted to Chibougamau Drilling, and samples were sent to Accurassay Laboratories of Thunder Bay, Ontario for analysis.
