SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 08/30/13 -- Today, the Royal Military College Saint-Jean held its traditional Obstacle Course marking the end of the Orientation Program for new Officer Cadets. Some 150 Officer Cadets took part in the 2013 edition of the Obstacle Course.
"The traditional Obstacle Course is the culmination of the orientation program and it marks the official welcoming of the new Officer Cadets into the Cadet Wing," explained Colonel Jennie Carignan, Commandant of the Royal Military College Saint-Jean. "For many Officer Cadets, the Obstacle Course represents one of the most memorable events of their first year at the College."
More than a physical challenge, the Obstacle Course demands the participants' analyses, quick reactions, as well as efficient management of resources, time, and effort to overcome each obstacle. The Obstacle Course develops teamwork, determination, endurance and fighting spirit, which are essential qualities required for success in military operations.
Following the Obstacle Course, Officer Cadets received their College badge during a parade, officially becoming part of the Cadet Wing.
The mission of Royal Military College Saint-Jean is to integrate, evaluate and develop its Officer Cadets for successful careers as commissioned officers in the Canadian Armed Forces by means of its academic, leadership, sports and bilingualism programs. These are the four components upon which Royal Military College Saint-Jean's curriculum is based. The College provides a seamless transition from high school to university by providing college-level and first-year university programmes in Science and Social Science.
