Tokyo, Sept 4, 2013 - (JCN Newswire) - Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) is to display its specially equipped "Welcab" vehicles and a healthcare and nursing-support robot at the 40th International Home Care and Rehabilitation Exhibition (H.C.R.), to be held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight) in Koto Ward, Tokyo from September 18 through 20. The H.C.R. event is the largest tradeshow of its kind in Japan.
In response to the aging of Japan's population, TMC has been developing and
marketing vehicles specially equipped to meet the diverse needs of senior citizens and others who might require extra care or support. At the H.C.R. event, TMC will display such vehicles and highlight the company's approach to vehicle development.
TMC will exhibit eight vehicles from the Welcab series, which features a wide range of specifications to meet diverse customer needs. The exhibit will include a full lineup of hybrid vehicles, including the "Corolla Fielder" station wagon (hybrid version recently added to lineup) with Rotating and Sliding Passenger Seat and the "Sai" hybrid sedan (partially redesigned in August) with Lift-up Front Passenger Seat. The booth will also feature specially adapted vehicles that allow ingress and egress while in a wheelchair.
TMC will also exhibit an improved version of the Human Support Robot* (HSR), which
was unveiled in September last year. Verification trial footage of four types of Toyota Personal Assist Robots that are being developed to provide support in nursing care and medical treatment will also be shown.
