GrammaTech Adds Dynamic Analysis to Product Portfolio with Cantata

Unit Testing Tool Helps Developers Build Safer Software and Achieve Compliance Goals

ITHACA, N.Y., Sept. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- GrammaTech, the leading developer of software-assurance tools and advanced cyber-security solutions, today announced that the company is offering an advanced dynamic analysis tool. Cantata, a leading unit testing tool for C, C++, and Java, will now be sold and fully supported in the United States by GrammaTech. The addition of Cantata will complement CodeSonar, GrammaTech's flagship static analysis tool, providing development teams with advanced software analysis throughout the entire development process.

Cantata will also give teams the power to achieve key compliance certifications. The tool brings built-in guidance and reporting to help users navigate the complex process of meeting multiple international compliance guidelines. Currently, the product is certified to support the IEC 61508 (general industrial), ISO 26262 (automotive), EN 50128 (railways), IEC 60880 (nuclear power), DO-178B/C (avionics), and IEC 62304 (medical devices) standards. And unlike other solutions, the Cantata compliance toolkit is completely free.

"Our customers frequently express interest in dynamic testing, specifically looking to us for expert guidance in their efforts to comply with worldwide software certification standards," said Paul Anderson, VP of Engineering at GrammaTech.  "With Cantata, we are adding a great solution for achieving code compliance certification at a low cost."

GrammaTech partnered with QA Systems to bring Cantata to the US because it is the leading dynamic testing tool in Europe, where standards aren't just recommended, but legally required. Cantata works with embedded development environments and targets, and with an Eclipse UI, Cantata provides a complete environment for the creation, execution, and analysis of unit and integration tests.

"GrammaTech's deep technical expertise surrounding code quality made them a natural partner for us in the U.S.," explained Andreas Sczepansky, CEO of QA Systems. "The combination of static and dynamic testing gives companies significantly deeper coverage when reviewing code for defects. As a result, development teams can expect accelerated development cycles that yield higher quality code."

Over the years, a variety of methodologies have emerged in order to overcome the challenges related to project constraints. The successful use of each methodology seems highly context-dependent. However, communication seems to be the common denominator of the many challenges that project management methodologies intend to resolve. In this respect, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can be viewed as powerful tools for managing projects. Few research papers have focused on the way...
As the world moves from DevOps to NoOps, application deployment to the cloud ought to become a lot simpler. However, applications have been architected with a much tighter coupling than it needs to be which makes deployment in different environments and migration between them harder. The microservices architecture, which is the basis of many new age distributed systems such as OpenStack, Netflix and so on is at the heart of CloudFoundry – a complete developer-oriented Platform as a Service (PaaS...
In high-production environments where release cycles are measured in hours or minutes — not days or weeks — there's little room for mistakes and no room for confusion. Everyone has to understand what's happening, in real time, and have the means to do whatever is necessary to keep applications up and running optimally. DevOps is a high-stakes world, but done well, it delivers the agility and performance to significantly impact business competitiveness.
The OpenStack cloud operating system includes Trove, a database abstraction layer. Rather than applications connecting directly to a specific type of database, they connect to Trove, which in turn connects to one or more specific databases. One target database is Postgres Plus Cloud Database, which includes its own RESTful API. Trove was originally developed around MySQL, whose interfaces are significantly less complicated than those of the Postgres cloud database. In his session at 16th Cloud...

There is no question that the cloud is where businesses want to host data. Until recently hypervisor virtualization was the most widely used method in cloud computing. Recently virtual containers have been gaining in popularity, and for good reason.
