Talent Discovery Website Bix.com Partners With Impact Radio Networks to Host the '2006 Country Music Awards Contest'
Best Country Singer Will Receive Chance at Fame and Trip for Two to the 40th Annual CMAs

By: PR Newswire
Oct. 5, 2006 10:00 AM

PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Bix.com, the first user- generated online contest Website that allows anyone to create, enter, and view a talent competition, today announced an online country music karaoke contest in partnership with Impact Radio Networks, a division of The Marketing Group. The grand prize winner will receive a trip for two to the 40th Annual Country Music Awards (CMAs) on Nov. 6, 2006 in Nashville, Tenn. The prize includes tickets to the CMA Awards, roundtrip airfare, and hotel accommodations in Nashville.

"Country music fans have become one our biggest group of users since Bix.com launched. We are thrilled to offer aspiring country stars an outlet for their creative talents and a chance to attend the Country Music Awards," said Mike Speiser, co-founder and CEO of Bix, Inc. "We are proud that Impact Radio Networks has chosen Bix.com as its marketing vehicle to reach country music fans everywhere. With a reach of 34 million Country listeners each week via over 700 Country Radio affiliates nationwide, Impact Radio Networks is a natural fit to host contests on Bix.com."

The "2006 Country Music Awards Contest" is an online karaoke competition where the public will determine, via a free and public voting system, who will rub elbows with stars at the CMAs. Country performers and country music enthusiasts looking to be discovered can enter the audio competition at http://www.bix.com/country for a chance to win the grand prize trip. Bix.com's country catalog contains more than 300 songs from which to choose, and the contestant receiving the most votes will win the grand prize package. The winner will be announced on Oct. 29. It is free to enter the "2006 Country Music Awards Contest" and free to vote for performers. Visit http://www.bix.com/country for competition rules and regulations.

Additionally, the contest provides a unique opportunity for talented individuals to develop a fan base and offers regular advice to those seeking fame. Contestants can count on one fan, in particular, to support their climb towards stardom and a seat at the CMAs. Former American Idol(R) finalist and country recording artist, Kimberly Caldwell serves as an advocate on the Bix site, encouraging people along their road to recognition.

"There is so much great talent waiting to be discovered, and it's difficult to get in front of the right people," said Caldwell. "There is a need for an open and fair talent discovery system like Bix and this contest provides an incredible opportunity for people to show off their skills and have a chance to be in the presence of today's most talented country singers."
