TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - September 30, 2013) - October 4, 2013, will mark the 125th anniversary of Cassels Brock. In that time, the firm has grown from a two-person partnership to one of Canada's foremost business law firms with over 200 lawyers in Toronto and Vancouver.
Originally founded in Toronto in 1888 as Cassels & Cassels by Hamilton Cassels, K.C. and Richard Scougall Cassels, K.C., the firm remained in its original offices at 88 Bay Street for many decades, evolving through a series of mergers between 1930-1970. Growth continued through the 80s and it was in 1984 that the firm was joined by the Blackwell Law Group and its name changed to the current Cassels, Brock & Blackwell LLP. The firm moved to its present home in Scotia Plaza on the corner of King & Bay in 1988, exactly 100 years after it was established just a few blocks away.
Today, Cassels Brock is a leading Canadian law firm focused on serving the needs of the world's most dynamic business sectors and consistently ranked as a leading legal adviser in Canada by both domestic and international surveys.
To recognize this milestone, the firm will be holding celebratory events for staff, lawyers and alumni throughout the week.
